Hey South Shore, Memorial Day weekend is here. The unofficial start of summer, the first long weekend that actually feels like summer, and the kind of three-day stretch that the whole South Shore has been waiting for since the clocks changed. Beaches are open, the patios are full, the boats are back in the water, and Main Streets from Babylon to Patchogue are gearing up for the busiest weekend the season has seen so far.

Before any of that, take a minute on Monday. Memorial Day is the reason we get the long weekend in the first place. The parades, the ceremonies at the cemeteries, the quiet moments at the monuments. That's the heart of it.

The weekend itself builds across four days. Thursday opens with a carnival rolling into St. Joseph's. Friday and Saturday stack the patios, the vineyards, and the dance floors. Sunday closes out with a waterfront market and one more late night before the holiday. Pick your lanes and pace yourself, because this one runs long.

Three days off, beaches open, patios full. Around here, we wait all year for one like this. We'll be back Thursday with the next one. Now let's get into it.
