Hey South Shore, you can feel summer starting to pack up. The beach traffic thins out a little earlier, the sun drops a touch sooner, and the calendar is loading up with all the last-chance events that mean the season is winding down. Last week gave us Beach Blast fireworks and the 25th run of Alive After Five, and this week the whole neighborhood is squeezing in one more round before Labor Day.

Thursday shuts down Deer Park Ave for the third and final Babylon Village Block Party of the year, which is exactly the kind of send-off summer deserves. From there the weekend spreads out to a two-day seafood festival on the water in West Sayville and a dog-friendly afternoon at the brewery on Sunday. Catch these before they're gone.

Fair warning before you plan: every day this weekend carries a shower chance, climbing to about 60 percent by Sunday, so check the sky before you head out. Most of what's worth doing this week is outdoors, and a little rain never stopped anyone around here from finding the party. Now let's get into it.

The third and final Block Party of 2026 takes over Deer Park Ave for a village-wide night of food, vendors, and live music running the length of downtown. This is the last one of the year, and the whole village comes out for it. Thursday evening, Babylon Village, the streets belong to everyone.

MoCA L.I. throws open its doors for a free all-ages Friday night that pairs live sets from Actual Serial Killers, Pearly, and Mount Pom with a hands-on DIY linocut workshop. The Maritime Museum's marquee summer festival runs both Saturday and Sunday on the water, with fresh seafood from Blue Island Oyster Co. and Claws, main-stage bands, and the 1888 oyster sloop Priscilla tied up at the dock. There's face painting and pirate entertainment for the kids, so the whole family stays happy. One heads-up: there's no on-site parking, so plan for the free shuttle from Baymen Soccer Field at Cherry Ave and Tariff St, or the LIRR Sayville shuttles. The gate takes cash only.

The fifth edition of Long Island's Ecuadorian Independence celebration takes over Stereo Garden with a stacked bill: Grupo Jayac, Tierra Canela, Banda 24 de Mayo de Patate, Star Band de Ruben Dario, and more moving through cumbia, nacional, and folklor. The floor stays full deep into the night, with doors at 8 and the party running to 2 AM. This one is 21 and over.
