Hey South Shore, this past Sunday was Father's Day and it also marked the first day of summer, two things landing on the same beautiful day. The weather held all afternoon, the kind of clear, easy Sunday that makes you want to be outside doing nothing in particular. If your dad got his day the way he deserved, that's the whole point. Summer's officially here, and the calendar is finally starting to feel like it.

This weekend leans all the way into it. Joe Avati brings his Italian-family comedy to the Patchogue Theatre on Saturday, and Babylon Village fires up its free summer concert series at the gazebo on Friday night. Four days, plenty of waterfront music, and a few rooms worth leaving the house for.

The vineyards are open, the beer gardens are filling up, and the tiki decks are back in business. None of that happens without the bands betting on a Friday afternoon, the volunteers behind A Day of Hope, and the neighbors who keep sending tips our way. That's the South Shore in late June. Now let's get into it.

Top 5 for the Weekend

Downtown Patchogue on a summer Saturday, with the kind of crowd that's been quoting his bits to each other for years.
